by John F. Masare

Tujikwamue Katika Elimu, Kiakili, Umaskini na Afya (TEKUA) Arts School, a non- governmental organisation based in Arumeru district, opposite the Makumira University College, is holding an arts exhibition on 14th July 2004 to generate income for the organization. It teaches Art, English, French as well as Handicrafts to disadvantaged youths free of charge.

According to Ms Cameron Kingsley, a volunteer arts instructor at TEKUA, there will be 65 pieces on display, about 35 of which are paintings, 15 carvings and 15 hand bags. The art will be on display from 2:00pm to 7:00pm and prices range from US Dollars 15 - 200.

TEKUA was founded in June 1993 by three artists; Adrian Mwaikambo, Chris Kariz and Ali Mhina, who were formerly volunteers at the United African Alliance Community Centre (UAACC). Its aim is to provide the children with the skills they need to become self reliant in life.
