Woman caught with stolen Church piano

A Church piano, which was stolen from the Saint Theresa Catholic Parish about two weeks ago, has been found among other stolen items , at a residential house located in Makao Mapya area of Arusha municipality.

The house belongs to a woman named as Esther Alex aged 26, who is currently being held by the Police. She is booked to be charged with the theft of both the piano and other items found in herpossession.

Regional Police Commander, James Kombe said other items found at the lady’s house include a 21-inch Hitachi Television screen, a Yamaha motorbike, a large loud speaker and stereo set.

The church piano, a Tiger Dual, valued at Tsh.5 million was stolen in the night of Friday the 18th of June this year, when robbers broke into the Saint Theresa Church building after smashing down the Chapel door.

A week later, Police’s operation succeeded in discovering the house at Makao Mapya, in which the piano, the motorbike, the TV screen and a number of other household items, suspected to be all stolen properties, were being kept.

According to Police reports, all these items were hidden on the house ceiling.

Esther’s husband, one John Mahuma, aged 28, reportedly managed to escape before the Police ambushed the household, last week.

Meanwhile, Police operations have also succeeded in finding a stolen vehicle, the Toyota Land Cruiser with registration numbers TZD 1419, which belongs to Julius Mshange, the 42 years old accountant with st. Constantine International school.
