Kudos for Karibu Fair organizers

The Karibu Travel and Trade Fair has now been institutionalized and undoubtedly it will grow to become a world wide acclaimed tourism fair. About 15,000 visitors are this year expected to visit the Fair grounds opposite ISM along Dodoma road. What are the merits of the show?

  • The once a year Trade and Travel Fair of "Karibu"is among the most educative events on issues of tourism and has become a popular thing in East Africa.

But show displays may not necessarily reflect the reality of our tourism and hospitality industry, in fact, local hotel operators need to improve on their services.

One suggestion though, since the fair has become a permanent annual event, it is high time permanent structures are erected at the venue.

It is high time now that, the organizers of Karibu think of working together with the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) in coming up with a better programme to make "Karibu" become one of the world’s recognized travel fairs in the lines of World Travel Mart.

Indeed the fair keeps on improving as time goes by and is a good opportunity for us to promote our tourism potentials.

Karibu Fairs provide temporary employment for local residents thus improve the local economy, hand in hand with promoting our tourism industry.

The fairs should however focus on exposing other undiscovered areas of our country that can be utilized to boost the industry.
