TRU hold general meeting before historical match

Arusha Rhinos players in the struggle to catch a ball in a recent competition in which the Rhinos emerged 2004 Tanzanian Rugby champions.

The Tanzania Rugby Union (TRU) Annual General Meeting will be held at the Arusha Hotel on Saturday, May 1st from10.00am.

The meeting will be followed by competitions at Braeburn at Kisongo starting with school matches for both boys and girls at12.30pm. This will be followed at 1.30 p.m by the May Day 7's to be competed by Moshi Kili Cats, Arusha Rhinos, Dar Leopards and the N.Tz Barbarians.

The main highlight of the bonanza will be a match between Tanzania and Burundi, the first rugby international in Tanzania in 30 years.

The Arusha Rhino’s who are the 2004 champions dominate the Tanzanian squad of 29 players. The Rhinos will feature 14 players, Dar Leopards 11, and Moshi Kili Cats four, according to an earlier announcement.

From there the race speeds on to Hai district of Kilimanjaro and back to TAWICO ready for the third leg starting in Kikatiti, a repeat of the 50km Hai section before finishing at Rallid Petrol Station at about 3.40pm.

This event, according to AMSC secretary, Fidde Mwacha is for the club rally championship title. The rally is sponsored by SUNVIC Express and Rallid Oil.
