by Matilda Kirenga

A woman resident of Soweto area in Arusha has been arrested and charged with robbery.

The woman was identified as Kuluthum Alpha, aged 18, who was caught in the evening of Saturday, April 24th, at about 6.30 pm in Soweto area.

Regional Police Commander, James Kombe told journalists in his office that the suspect was caught with two pairs of the Tanzanian army outfits, complete with army caps and cardigans worn by the defence force soldiers.

The arrest of the woman with army attire came just about two weeks since some members of the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF) wrecked havoc in town in their quest to smoke out robbery suspects who had shot dead their colleague.

Police reports have that the woman had claimed that she was actually not a resident of Arusha but a visiting individual hailing from Zanzibar.

It was reported that relatives of the suspect have come forth to insist that Kuluthum is actually a resident of Arusha.

The Police Commander sad that police were continuing with their investigations.
