"Passions of Christ" for Arusha Good Friday massby Staff Reporter The "passions of Christ" will be staged in various parts of Arusha municipality next Friday afternoon, to mark the annual Good Friday mass. This however, will have nothing to do with the Hollywood-produced, Mel Gibson’s block buster but rather live dramatized persecution and crucifixion of Jesus Christ, to be performed by church youth groups. The "Jesus" stage shows, are not a new concept either, they have always livened the afternoon Good Friday masses in various Lutheran parishes of Arusha since time immemorial. This year, as usual, the stage plays depicting Jesus’ final hours before his death on the Cross are once more going to thrill local brethren who normally fill churches to their full capacity. Before the afternoon "shows" however, followers of the Christendom denominations in Arusha, will march in the municipality carrying wooden crosses in reminiscence of Christ’s Journey to Golgotha about 2004 years ago. The processions, will take place in the morning of Friday, April 9, at about 8.30am, starting from Kijenge, Burka, Unga Limited and Kimandolu areas before ending up at the Sheikh Amri Abeid stadium, ready for the communal, interdenominational mass. This communal Good Friday masses are usually organized by the
Union of Christendom denominations in Arusha municipality.
