Hindi dances once again dominated the Annual Cultural Day events organised by the Arusha Modern School and staged at its Kisongo campus last week.

After the curtain raising Naukala dance which was performed by Form Three students, the inaugural Hindi dance, by Primary Junior pupils took onto the stage. Later, another Hindi dance was staged and this time the performers were secondary school boys followed by senior primary school pupils.

Other events which fell in between the Hindi dances include, Arabian cultural dances, kiddie dance, coastal Zaramo dance and the southern Makonde dance.

There was also Msewe dance, Sambaa dance from Tanga, Ngoma, shows, other general songs, poems and Kiswahili recitals being punctuated by school prayer, speeches and award giving sessions.

The entire event was brought to peak with a grand fashion show staged by both primary and secondary school students.

The guest of honour was Mrs Florah Hakika, the principal of Arusha Hotel Training Institute (AHTI) who warned that the country’s cultural values were at stake if efforts to pass them on to the youth are not taken.

Hundreds of Arusha residents managed to make it to the event.

Arusha Modern School has both the primary wing, situated in Sakina and secondary campus in Kisongo, and is among the fast growing educational institutions in the region.
