Front Page EAC pays tribute to fallen chairman of Council of MinistersBy Liz Sengwaji
The East African Community Secretary General has sent a message of condolences to President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda following the death of the country’s Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, James Wapakabulo. "On behalf of the East African Community Secretariat and on my own behalf, I convey most heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency, and, through you, to the bereaved family, relatives, friends and colleagues of the late James Wapakabulo; the National Resistance Movement and government and people of Uganda", said the Message by Amanya Mushega. Wapakabulo was also Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the East African Community. As Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Wapakabulo steered the deliberations of the Council of Ministers with great skill and persuasive appeal during a definitive era of the revival and consolidation of East African Co-operation, said the message. Wapakabulo, popularly known in Uganda as Wapa, passed away on March 27 this year. Multitudes of people streamed into the parliament building in Kampala on March 30 to pay their last respects to the fallen Minister. He has left behind wife Angelina and children Moses, Angela, Mana, Lumumba , Yona and Josephine.
