Arusha employers in court over staff’s benefitsby Staff Reporter Five employers in the Arusha municipality have been taken to court to answer charges of failing to remit their employee’s national social security contributions amounting to about Tsh.152 million. The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Chief Manager in Arusha, Mathew Mwakatobe, has named La Freur Da Freque which grows flowers for export as one of the companies whose leaders have failed to abide by social security contributions regulations. The company whose green houses are located in south-eastern part of Arusha municipality is reported to owe NSSF a total of Tsh. 71.7 million, in terms of employees contributions towards their retirement benefits. Also charged in court is the Management of Victoria Barabara Limited which has failed to remit its employee’s contributions amounting to Tsh.55.7 million. Other companies include, the Azimio-based, Happy Sausages which has yet to pay-in Tsh.15.6 million; Dragon Security, Tsh.5.2 million; and Meru Enterprises, Tsh..1.5 million. According to Mwakatobe, the money being deducted from the respective companies’ employees must be remitted to the NSSF each month as their social security against hazards, accidents and old age.
