Somji, Nicolson win Rotary golf contestBy Beatus Kasegenya
Mahmood Somji combined well with his partner Daniel Nicolson in the better ball competition to amass a record 45 stableford points and emerge stars in the Rotary Charity meet. Mahmood and Daniel scored 22 points in the first nine and 23 points in the second nine. The runner- up position was taken by Olais Mollel with his partner Leo Fortes who carded in 43 stableford points. Olais and Fortes scored 22 points in the first nine and 21 in the second nine. Two teams were tied on 41 points and the pair of A. Mohamed and R Chadha won the third prize on count-back from the pair of A.Crawford/B. Chadha who took the fourth position. Fith place went to M.Sherif and M.Shirima. Sixth position was scooped by M.Yusufali and A. Somji. In seventh position was the pair of J. Manik and P. Matthyssen. The pair of D. Preira and S. Kaaya took the eigth prize. H Chadha paired with J. Iffil to win the ninth position. H. Sherif and J. Crawford were the winners of the tenth prize. The golf caddies who excelled in this tournament were the pair of F. Augustin and C. Justin who brought in 43 stable ford points, to win a separate prize which had been set for the caddies. The competition was held to raise funds to
assist various charity projects being supported by the Rotary Club of Arusha..
