The Police in Arusha region have impounded four Television sets, a stereo system, wall clock and an electric jug in their ongoing operation against criminals in the municipality.

Police reports indicate that two Television sets with 21 inches screens, one being a Hitachi model while the other the new ZEC model, were found in Kerai area in the night of Thursday, 11th March 2004, at about 2.00 a.m.

A potato trader operating at Kilombero Market, who was identified as Ayoub Shaaban, is being held by the Police in connection with the TV sets, all of which are believed to be stolen properties.

Also in the early hours of Monday the 15th of March, two more 21-inches Television screens were impounded in Themi Hill area, near Tanzania Breweries plant.

The screens were a Hitachi model, a JVC model plus a stereo music system, a Panasonic model, wall clock and electric water jug.

The Police in Arusha, is calling upon local residents who have been victims of robbery or burglary to go and identify the sets. By the time we went to press, two television sets and the music stereo had already been identified by owners.

Television sets are still hot items being sought after by house breakers because they are reportedly easy to sell.
