Wazees Vow to Rescue Ailing National Team

By lutengano

The Wazees Football Club last weekend continued to gain momentum with new players, most of them from the East African Community (EAC) Headquarters in Arusha, joining in to be in shape for forthcoming EAC celebrations at the end of November 2003.

So the General Tyre grounds, along Njiro road were quite exciting with the injection of the new talents. So exciting it was that the Wazee players have now requested that they also hold some light training on Wednesday afternoons to be in shape for the Sunday sessions.

Also in the pipeline is a special TV programme to be aired by ITV on the Wazees football skills. This it is hoped will inspire other Wazees in other parts of the country to take up exercises. Already, reports are reaching Arusha that the Wazees in Dar es Salaam are about to establish something similar to the Arusha Wazees.

Actually an informal agreement has been reached whereby the Dar es Salaam Wazees will officially be called "Arusha Wazees Club – Dar es Salaam Branch" in recognition of the pioneering spirit of the latter.

In the long run, the Wazees have vowed that they will rescue the ailing National Football Team, whose performance is heart-breaking.
