By sports reporter

Squash is fast becoming a popular game in Arusha. Just last week a total of 32 squash players from the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) and the PPF Estate-based Genesis Fitness Clubs squashed it out for a week to get the Arusha 2003 Open Squash champion.
The trophy went to none other than Adam Omari, the player-cum- trainer of the Genesis Club who beat Lucas Aegaeli also a player-cum-trainer of the AICC Club 9-3, 9-0, 9-1. Adam pocketed some 100,000/- and Aegael some 50,000/- as prize money.

According to Chris, the Genesis Fitness Club Director, the tournament went a long way in bringing the two clubs together, forming bonds to help integrate and develop the game of squash in Arusha.

Organisers from both clubs have undertaken to help stimulate and promote the game of squash in and around Arusha. More such tournaments are envisaged in future.
