Team leaders
and other sports officials are actually the culprits behind the poor
sporting image of Tanzania. Most leaders put forward their own
personal gain thus sacrificing the overall performance of our teams.
Also inadequate preparation, fear of
costs and time factor do adversely affect our teams.
May be we should seek sponsors in
terms of companies, institutions and even the Government so as to
raise the standards of our teams. |

Tanzania’s
poor sports performance is due to the fact that, people here go into
sports in their mature age. I mean, we should cultivate the sporting
spirit since childhood, games should start in primary or even
kindergarten schools.
There are also very low incentives
for our sportsmen which is discouraging and make them not to be
serious while playing. |
|
|
Our sportsmen
are too dependent on various factors and thus causes them to lack self
confidence. There are no sporting programmes for children at school
and our institutions lack the relevant sporting facilities.
Most of the best sports people are
in rural areas where they remain unnoticed but even when they come to
urban centres a sudden environmental change drastically affects their
performance. |

Lack of
proper sports trainers, good play grounds and facilities highly
contribute to the declining standards in sports. Lack of sound
financial support and the current multi party system of politics are
also among the outstanding negative factors.
