Teenager alleged to defile toddler

A teen age boy has been charged at the Arusha Resident Magistrate’s Court for sexual assault of a child.

The 16- year old boy ( name withheld) who appeared before the Resident Magistrate, Rossalia Mugissa, is alleged to have defiled a three- year-old child in the afternoon of Sunday, the 5^th of October 2003.

Presenting these charges in court, the public prosecutor, Inspector Audax Majaliwa, stated that, the incident occurred in the Unga Limited area of Arusha municipality.

The events leading to the alleged sexual defilement are however not clear, but according to the charge sheet, the victim’s parents discovered its effects on the child later that day, then pursued the matter further.

The child, apparently mentioned the accused, prompting the parents to report the matter to the Police who then arrested the suspect before forwarding his case him to court.

When these charges were read before the accused, he denied to have committed the offence. The defendant has been taken back into custody, awaiting the case’s second mention set for October 29^th this year.
