The Kili Cats Rugby Club announced yesterday from their Sianga Duka Headquarters that Tanzanian Breweries Ltd will sponsor the tournament, through their Castle Lager brand. The cream of East African Rugby Teams will again compete for the Kili 7’s, which has a proud history of attracting the top Tanzanian and Kenyan teams. Joining Moshi Kili Cats, Arusha Rhinos and Dar Leopards in this 16 team event will be the winners of the last 2 events, Impala RFC from Nairobi, who boast many Kenyan International players in their line up. They may not get it all their own way this year as the Kenyan Ulinzi team, whose powerful running and excellent ball skills meant they were crowned champions of the Kenyan 7’s circuit this year, have indicated that they wish to take part. Other Kenyan teams that have expressed an interest in taking part include Nakuru, Kisumu, African Nazarene University, Day Star University , Kenyan Harlequins, Black Blad and Mwamba. The popularity of the tournament has been put down to friendly atmosphere that it is played in and the excellent sponsorship package prepared by Tanzanian Breweries Ltd, who again will be providing accommodation and food for visiting teams. In a move to attract more spectators to the game it has been announced that a big name band from Dar will be performing at the ground after the matches.
