What is Konoike doing in Kituoni Street?

I am writing in reference to the article in the Arusha Times of August 30th entitled "The Snail and Bus Station" by Valentine Marc Nkwame. I highly appreciated it and it is an eye opener.

To add to it, Konoike has been given a contract to build roads, but instead they are also bulldozing down shop verandas. After doing the damage some of their workers are now secretly demanding to be paid money in order to have the verandas fixed. I simply do not understand this.

I would like to request the District Commissioner and Konoike directors to visit Kituoni Street and see for themselves the damage done.

I also urge Konoike workers to be patriotic.

I would like to see photos of Wazee rolling on their ‘tummies’

Dear Editor

Being a part-time Arusha citizen, I love your newspaper and read it religiously every week. While I enjoy the stories about the Mzee's playing football, and the words give great description, there's nothing like a photo or two to tell the real story!

I'm hoping you'll send a staff photographer out there this Sunday so that next Friday I can see these "gentlemen" rolling around on their you-know-what's...

Thanks as always,
Jo Bertone
