Germany now has Honorary Consul in Arushaby Jackline Kaaya of SAUT
A German businessman, Mr. Ulf Kusserow has been appointed German Honorary Consul in Arusha to cover Arusha, Manyara, Moshi and Tanga regions. "The appointment of a German Honorary Consul in Arusha shows how close Tanzanian-German relations are. We strive to foster them at all levels", said the acting Head of the German Embassy, Mr. Peter Zingraf in a ceremony in Dar es Salaam last week to honour the newly appointed consul. He said Arusha stands out in Tanzania as a centre for Regional Cooperation as well as in terms of commerce adding that a considerable part of the German nationals living in Tanzania is concentrated in Arusha. Ulf Kusserow has been engaged for many years in the coffee business in Tanzania. He is presently farming premium coffee in the southern highlands of Tanzania and will soon start roasting and marketing activities of his own Msumbi coffees. He also offers his coffee expertise as consultant. He was recently appointed exclusive representative for the ecological coffee processing equipment of a Colombian firm (Penagos), covering Eastern and Southern African countries. According to a press statement from the embassy, Mr. Kusserow’s main areas of activity as a German Honorary Consul will be legal matters, economic and trade as well as cultural relations. Legal matters comprise mainly legalizations of Tanzanian documents, all kinds of certificates and help for German tourists in distress. He may facilitate passport and visa applications which, however, continue to be processed by the German Embassy in Dar es salaam. "I have been living in Tanzania for 10 years now. Tanzania has become home for me, my wife and our children. I am very happy with my new function and I will use it to foster the bilateral relations and to be of help for Tanzanians and German nationals," Mr. Kusserow stated after having been appointed.
