Somji proves his physical strength cross Country meetBy our correspondent
Amir Somji fired 54 net strokes to emerge winner of the Cross Country Competition played at the at Arusha Gymkhana Club last weekend. The competition is a fun game where players tee off from various locations on the golf course, driving over trees and thick rough to reach the greens as opposed to playing from Tee boxes and on fairways. The handicapping is based on an allowance of ¾ of the player’s official handicaps. It is a game that takes not only physical strength, but also mental strength and Somji did just that by beating a pack of 27 young and bold players. The Runner- up prize went to A. Crawford on 57 net strokes and the 2nd Runner- up prize was won by Paul Matthysen on 58 net strokes. Two Clubs were achieved by Juma Madege (2 Two Clubs) and Col. Kaaya. Piga mingi prize went to Peace Akwei-Brock.
