Main Characters

Pete - An executive at an I.T. firm
Toyah - A sales person at the firm
Fred - Same as Toyah
David - an accountant at the firm
Gerald - A policeman
Rebecca - A gongo seller
Margo - A friend of Rebecca
Kimolo - A brother of Toyah

Supporting Characters

Messenger, at the firm, called TechTronics
Executive, from TT HQ in Dar
Sarah, a secretary at TechTronics
Drunkard, who frequents Rebecca

Messenger leaves and Gerald enters a few moments later.

Pete - Gerald.

Gerald - How are you, Pete?

Pete - So so. I was thinking about you.

Gerald - Really?

Gerald sits.

Pete - Our initiation.

Gerald - That was some time ago.

Pete - Feels like life times.

Gerald - Yes.

Pete - Whats new?

Gerald - I saw Kimolo a while back.

Pete - Did you? How is he?

Gerald - Stinking of gongo. .Red eyed. You know.

Pete - A waste and a shame.

Gerald - He cant go on like this. Either he will get stabbed, thrown into prison or his liver will go.

Pete - You forgot to mention that hes HIV positive.

Gerald - I haven't forgotten. But he will be lucky if he lives long enough to die of AIDS.

Pete - Strange way of putting it.

Gerald - He was picked up by a patrol the other night. I managed to get him released but it was expensive.

Pete - How much?

Gerald - 25,000.-

Pete hands him some bills.

Gerald - I hate taking money from you. You know that.

Pete - I know.

Gerald - Whats your real interest in him?

Pete - Havent I said it? His people did my family a big favor. Once upon a time.

Gerald - But his own blood have washed their hands of him. Why do you bother?

Pete - He reminds me of someone.

Gerald - Who?

Pete is silent.

Gerald - The man is beyond help.

Pete - Rubbish. The world is full of so called beyond help cases who are helping others.

Gerald - Don't say I didn't warn you.

Gerald rises to his feet and leaves. Pete stares at the door.

Pete - I hate taking money from you. You know that. Oh yes. I know, my friend. I know. One of these days Im going to -

Knock at the door.

Pete - WHAT?!

David - Hey. Hey. Calm down,

Pete - Sorry.

David - Whats he want?

Pete - Gerald? Why should he want anything?

David - Eh? GE - RALD? And that bloody shit twin of his - Joram. The deadly duo? Squeeze blood from a stone - and then milk it?

Pete - Laughs. Come in.

David - I don't trust the guy.

He sits.

Pete - Why?

David - Just a feeling.

Pete - Places thick with feelings today. First Toyah. Now you.

David - What do you mean?

Pete - Never mind. How is accounts?

David - Same as ever.

Pete - Why haven't Dar sent us the revised price list?

David - Havent they?

Pete - Im asking you.

David - It should have been here last week.

Pete - You know who is coming here NEXT week? Sutrap from head office. Sutrap isn't big on should have beens.

David - He isn't big on me either.

Pete - Thought Id remind you.

David - Ill get on it.

Pete - What else is happening?

Fred steps in.
