Among the various activities that the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) will be undertaking in the course of this week’s observations of the Centre’s 25th Anniversary, is the distribution of wheel chairs to 10 disabled persons in the Arusha municipality.

This was revealed by the AICC Managing Director, Mr. Patrick Tsere during a press conference to brief journalists on the Centre’s Silver Jubilee celebrations taking place as from Monday the 1st of September to Saturday the 6th.

The 10 wheel chairs will be donated to patients who had been treated at the AICC hospital. The AICC has also extended assistance to local orphans whose parents, before dying, had been admitted at the hospital. The orphans will be given food provision. The same applies to patients currently being admitted at the AICC hospital.

A new board of the AICC Management will also be launched during the celebrations week of the Centre which is the largest conference centre in Tanzania.

The Minister of the Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete will be present during most of these activities. Sporting events have been organised at Sheikh Amri Abeid stadium to mark the occasions. Various other activities will take place at the AICC premises, AICC hospital and in Kaloleni area.

The centre was officially opened on July 1, 1978 and although owned by the government, it operates as a fully-fledged commercial entity.
