Gymnastics for youths open at Gishama hallby Nyamanoko Bwire Local youths aged between seven and 16 years, now have a place to actively spend their spare time, holidays and weekends, taking part in Gymnastics and martial arts training. These activities, take place on daily basis at the Gishama hall, located adjacent to Kilombero market in Levolosi area of the municipality. Event coordinator, Pelle Ibrahim Shaibu said, so far the activities have attracted over 15 youths, who have for the past two weeks, been actively taking part in the sessions. The training, according to Shaibu, is being conducted by Martial arts expert, Hamisi Nyota who reportedly got trained in China since when he was only seven years old. The Gishama activities may help to solve the long standing problem of lack of proper venues for the local youths to spend their free time in constructive activities. Also being conducted at the Gishama hall, are some English communication skills for pupils and students plus tailor made exercise programmes for adults. "We still have problems with adults attendance," said Shaibu, adding that parents can always escort their children to the events and get to do a bit of exercises themselves. The coordinator however, pointed out that, there is still a great need to introduce similar activities in another part of the town preferably Njiro. ‘This is to help those who live in Themi area, Kijenge and Njiro to attend the sessions at ease," he explained. Soon to be introduced in the series of youth activities are netball, soccer, volleyball and basketball games plus both lawn and table tennis.
