Tragic accident blows Sunya soccer teamOne dies, 10 injuredby Nyamanoko Bwire and Happy Lazaro The local sporting scene has witnessed another tragic road accident, in which one sportsman died, while10 others sustained serious injuries. This accident occurred at the Kijungu ward of Miliongima location along Dodoma road. The sportsmen, members of the Town Star team of Sunya, were on their way to Kiteto district, in Manyara region, to take part in the Third Division soccer league and were travelling at the back of an Isuzu truck with registration numbers TZD 1128. Regional Police Commander, James Kombe, confirmed the incident, adding that, about 200 players and fans were on the truck. Driven by Hamis Hamed (28), the lorry had a dangerous scrap with a Nissan bus, TZJ 2659 being driven by Abdallah Ismail (50). The two vehicle’s side brushing, resulted into one of the players, Said Abdallah (21) a resident of Sunya, to lose his whole arm, as it was chopped off in the ordeal. Abdallah, who was taken to the Dodoma hospital, died 30 minutes later while another player, Muyu Rajab (25), is reported to be in very critical condition. Nine other players were injured in the accident and are all admitted at the hospital. The two drivers, whose vehicles were heading in the opposite directions, have also been arrested by the police in connection with the accident. Last year, 11 sportsmen of Sakila soccer team, lost their lives in another tragic road accident, when the tractor trailer they were travelling in from Sakila to Kikatiti area of Arumeru, overturned into a roadside ditch.
