Man, 82, alleged to defile school boys

An 82 year-old resident of Ngaresero village in Arumeru district, was recently arrested by the Police, for allegedly sexually assaulting primary school boys.

Rasta Mablabla is reported to have been committing the crime since January this year.

Regional Police Commander, James Kombe, said Mablabla has sexually assaulted a total of five boys aged between 10 and 13 years. He defiled his last victim before arrest on

the 14^th of this month.

Police records indicate that, all the five victims are pupils of Yurak primary school in Ngaresero, Arumeru district who were said to have fallen into the old man’s trap having been lured by sugar canes and money.

The crime against the children, all of whom being class three boys at the school, was discovered after missing series of lesson which prompted the teachers to investigate their absence.

Mablabla is currently being held by the police, while the five victims have been taken to hospital for medical examinations.

Meanwhile Happy Lazaro reports that a class seven pupil of Daraja Mbili primary school who resides in Lemara ward is being held under police custody, for allegedly defiling a seven-year old boy.

The accused recently appeared before the Resident Magistrate, Rosalia Mugissa. He lacked the relevant sureties to back his bond fixed at Tsh.500,000.

Public prosecutor, Inspector Hassan Nuru earlier told the court that, the accused had committed the sex offence on the 11^th of August this year.

According to the court charges, the incident occurred at Daraja Mbili area of Sinon, in the evening of the said date.

In another case, a seventeen- year- old youth is also being charged with sexually defiling another seven- year- old boy.

The resident of Sinon, is alleged to have committed the sexual offence in Faya area of Themi on the 30^th of July 2003.

The accused also missed sureties to back his bail. Appearing before the Resident Magistrate, Rosalia Mugissa, the accused denied the charges.

The sexual offences special provisions act number 4 of 1998 Section154, states that, where the unnatural sex offence is committed to a child under the age of 10 years, the offender shall be sentenced to life imprisonment.
