Rehema Ramadhan new UWT boss at Sombetini

The Sombetini ward branch of the Union of Women in Tanzania (UWT) has elected Rehema Ramadhan (39), the unionís chairperson in the area.
Rehema got 79 votes out of a total of 120, during the branchís general election meeting which was held at the Sombetini ward executive office last week.
Known as the "Simanjiro" UWT branch, the union members also elected Mary Kitundu their new General Secretary.
Six executive members of the committee were also elected and these are: Anna Wakala, Mary Kitundu, Elly Urio, Hawa Martin, Mwanaisha Ramadhan and Rehema Ramadhan.
Normally, the Sombetini UWT branch holds general elections every year.
Maria Leskari, was the former chairperson of UWT Sombetini and her attempts to retain the top post ended with her getting only 44 votes.
Only two candidates were vying for the topmost title while the general secretary post had only one candidate who passed unopposed.
