Man stabs uncle to death

Man stabs uncle to death for ‘bewitching’ family

by Happy Lazaro

A resident of Ngurdoto village in Arumeru is being held by the police for allegedly stabbing his uncle to death.

Tengesi Ndioki (35) is reported to have killed Kilusu Merinyo (67), when he sunk a knife blade into the latter’s stomach in the night of Saturday, the 26th of April this year.

Regional Police Commander (RPC), James Kombe, said the accused had invaded the house of the deceased at about 4.00 a.m before proceeding to attack the old man with the knife.

The incident occurred at Ngurdoto village in the Ngaramtoni ward of Arumeru district.

Early investigations reveal that, Ndioki committed the murder of his father’s young brother under claims that the latter was a witch.

Ndioki, is reported to have reached this decision following consistent illnesses that have been affecting his children and wife.

The suspect concluded that it was his uncle who was behind his family’s afflictions.

Killing people on alleged grounds that they practice witchcraft is a practice common among natives of the Lake Victoria zone.

Of late, the municipality has also been witnessing strange cases of alleged witchcraft episodes such as the two men who were found naked on a tree top and roof in Kijenge.

In a different case, a miniature coffin was discovered outside a residential house in Arumeru, bearing a strange message inside.
