It’s a battle of motor works as Njake 200 Rally raises dust

FLASHBACK: Driver Daudi Kidawawa navigated by Alfred Lotuno in airborne position in their Subaru Legacy during rally organized by SUNVIC in August last year.

Toyota motor vehicles seem to be dominating this Sunday’s first ever, Njake 200 CRC Rally.

Out of the 14 car entries, there are five Toyotas among them, three Cellica GT4 being driven by Ally Kassu/Shafin Khan; Gamdust Haji/Manish Chavda and Bashir Suleiman/Abdullah Mwinyi.

There are also two Toyota Levines the first one a Levine GT4 is being driven by Khalid Kassam and Shahir Khan while the second, Levine GT9 is driven by Hussein Moor and Jamil Singh.

The rally also has three Range Rover V8s driven by Shiraz Shabhan/Aziz Mohammed also, Shadhab Esmail/Hussein Fala and Chilu Sadiq and Hashim Sadiq.

Two Nissan 200SXs driven by two teams of Jamil Shabhay/Gurvinder Singh and Sharath Ismail/Fatma Shabhan have also made their entries in the rally.

The rest are single car type entries like an Opel Ascona (Sameer Shams/Skandar Abbas), Datsun 1800SS (Gopi Aggarwal) Subaru Legacy (David Kidawawa/Alfred Lowno) and a Land Rover V8 (Shamshard Gamdust/Sherdel Omar).

Main sponsors of the Njake 200 CRC Rally are Njake Oils Limited and General Tyre (EA) Limited. Other sponsors include, Darsh Industries, Book Mark - Sunny Safaris, Sunvic Express, Dania Pools and Ponds and Golden Rose Hotel.

This is the first time that, Njake Oils is involved with motor sports but General Tyre has been supporting motor rallies in Tanzania for over 20 years now, said Walter Maeda, chairman of the Arusha Motor Sports Club.

The rally starts at General Tyre premises on Sunday morning at about 7:30am and finish at Njake Petrol Station in Usa River, after covering over 200 kilometres. Prize giving will take place at the SUNVIC yard in Mbauda.
