Watchman strangled

Watchman strangled to death at night

by Neema Emma

A 45-year old man identified as Davis Mensisi  who worked as a watchman in one of the houses owned by Arusha’s leading real estate developer, Meleu Mrema was found strangled to death last week.

Police reports reveal  that the watchman was strangled while he was fast asleep  on duty  in the Levolosi area of Arusha municipality.

Regional Police Commander, Placid Chaka said Mensisi was, guarding one of Mrema’s houses.

At around midnight on Friday 18th, the day of incident three people believed to be robbers, invaded the house, found the guard asleep, twisted his neck and proceeded to open the house using master keys.

It was when the thugs were trying to open the store that neighbours were awakened by the unusual noise. The neighbours then started raising alarm by banging onto their doors and shouting. This scared the intruders who ran away.

When the neighbours finally came out, they discovered that the guard was already dead and notified the police.

Police investigations propose that, the culprits could have been unarmed and simply stumbled at the opportunity to rob the premises.
