Kenyan ‘nun’ declared prohibited immigrant“She collapses at Namanga border”by Valentine Marc Nkwame The Regional Immigration Department of Arusha has discovered and deported a Kenyan lady who last year toured the region claiming to be a Catholic nun. Lucy Anne Wairimu was recently caught trying to cross into the country through the Namanga border using a temporary Kenyan passport number KE 0048. Regional Immigration Officer (RIO), Method Rwekaza said the Namanga Immigration Office was already alerted about “Sister” Wairimu who is said to have so far covered most parts of the country in her “Sister Act”. With a good geographical knowledge and pleasant personality “Sister” Wairimu first had her collars felt in Arusha last year. After visiting various local parishes and traveling to as far as Mbulu district and Dodoma region, Wairimu’s facade was finally stripped by the Medical Missionary of Mary (MMM) sisters at the Ngaramtoni Catholic parish who notified the Immigration office. It was then when the self proclaimed sister who claimed to be hailing from Eldoret was discovered to be simply a ‘crook’ lady whose real name was Phyilis Wanjiru Kamau, holder of a Kenyan passport number A569396 which was issued in Nairobi on May 17th, 2000. Wanjiru alias Wairimu however, stuck to her guns insisting she was a “Mother Superior” from the Eldoret base “Mary Immaculate Mission of Kenya”. Her claims didn’t help very much and was deported back to Kenya in June last year. Dressed in full Catholic sister attires, Wairimu, was probably trying her luck again this year when the Immigration officers nabbed her. Reports from Catholic Archdiocese of Arusha reveal that, Wairimu was suspected to be fake because unlike other sisters she didn’t exactly bother with prayers and had a false crucifix which was kept hidden in her garments. Claiming to have been born in 1978,the self proclaimed sister is also reported to have liked to stick in the kitchen had an enormous appetite which matched her large. When she was recently arrested at the border, “Sister” Wairimu suddenly felt dizzy and actually collapsed and she had to be given medical attention under guard before being deported on PI notice number 0041024.
