AIDS NGOs face monitoring

By Mustafa Leu

National organizations working on controlling the spread of HIV/AIDS and TAC-AIDS have set a strategy of allocating funds to the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in a bid to intensify the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Arusha Municipality AIDS Control Co-ordinator, Dr. Solomon Lugilinore revealed this when addressing a preparatory meeting for the World AIDS Day, which is marked on December 1st every year.

The new strategy requires NGOs that intend to be funded to submit their proposals, budgets and implementation reports to their respective district councils, which would forward them to the national programmes.

The objective of the procedure is to control and monitor expenditures and make the NGOs work abreast with the District Councils instead of working on their own.

Dr. Lugilinore warned that any organization that would not adhere to the resolved procedure would not be allocated funds.
