How suspect was arrested

How the robbery suspect in police uniform was arrested

by Staff Reporters

It took a couple of Ultimate Security guards to arrest the robbery suspect who was dressed in police uniforms after the two policemen who were supposed to do the job, stumbled and fell at the sight of criminals.

The robbery suspect, Ernest Said was being wrestled by an Ultimate Security guard, Aggrey Theodore (32) who was stationed at the newly constructed Rallied and Company petrol station in Ngaramtoni, where the suspect and four others were intending to rob.

The survivor of the midnight drama, Theodore said it was his radio call which saved his life since the band had badly beaten him with chunks of metals and building materials which they picked at the site.

Earlier, the gang of five robbers had car-jacked a Toyota RAV-4 vehicle belonging to a Kenyan business woman, Magreth Wanjiku, who together with one Toufiq Kariuki and a third person, were held captives before they abandoned it near Kwa Idd area in Ngaramtoni.

The vehicle, with Kenyan registration numbers KAP22J has not yet been recovered as four of the five robbers, reportedly escaped in it.

The Arusha branch manager of Ultimate Security, Fred Naidoo said his men were alerted by Theodore radio call as the robbers pounded on him and set off for rescue.

The security men passed at the Central Police Station where they picked up two armed police men and headed to the scene but upon arriving there, the two officers stumbled and fell down while getting out of the car.

"They hurt their knees and their weapons flew off, recounted Naidoo.

However, two of Ultimate Security guards rushed off to assist their colleague who was being faced with two thugs one with a pistol.

"I held the one dressed in police uniforms as my shield against the thug with the weapon!"

Seeing the reinforcement team, the four robbers jumped over petrol station wall and fled into coffee plantations never to be seen again.

Previously, police reports indicated that, the robber was overpowered by a mob of "angry residents!" "You will never get a mob of people at an isolated unfinished petrol station in the middle of the night!" said the Ultimate Security manager.
