Youths volleyball events keep church grounds active

by Nyamanoko Bwire

Volleyball fans in the Arusha municipality can now enjoy their favourite sport every Friday evening at the Arusha Community Church (ACC) grounds.

Located in the Makao Mapya area adjacent to the town branch of Selian hospital, the Arusha Community Church runs these open volleyball games for the youths as a form of a healthy pass-time.

Speaking on behalf of the youth leader, Edmund Ntwale, one of the church elders, Erwin Kinsey said these activities keep the local youths busy and active and that, usually after the games there are Bible studies.

Participation, according to Kinsey, is not only open and free but also doesn't choose individual's religion, sex or even age as long as they are interested.

So far, there are over 20 young men who meet at the venue every Friday as from 5.00 p.m. (17:00 hours) to take part in their favourite sport but more youths and interested people are still being invited to join.

Much as the participants would like to play as frequently as possible, it is apparent that church elders are skeptic that, daily activities may actually wear off all the grass thus transforming the little provided pitch into a dusty plot.

Meanwhile, the Ngarenaro Parish of the Lutheran Church has introduced similar activities at the church grounds every Wednesday evening.

The Ngarenaro Lutheran Parish volleyball events are also open for each and every interested individual especially the youths.
