Arusha Modern awards best pupils, students in sportsby Nyamanoko Bwire The Arusha Modern School has awarded six pupils with outstanding performances in games and other sporting events. Jones Mathias, who is the captain of Nyerere House was warded two trophies for excelling in football and athletic events. The captain of Mandela House, Jackson Frank also got the coveted shield trophy for being the best performer in volleyball events for secondary students.
For primary level netball events, Aline Robert, who is the captain of Einstein House junior team was awarded with the special trophy. Anita Moshi, the captain of Nyerere House senior team got the same special netball trophy but for the secondary students level. For basketball games, the outstanding performance trophies went to the captain of Mandela House’s senior team (secondary level), Stephen Musika. The captain of Barbro Junior team, Punit, also won the basketball shield trophy for primary level. All these awards were given out during the special prize giving day held at the Arusha Modern, Sakina area, school premises last Sunday afternoon. The prize giving event was also marked with special events such as the Africa traditional harvest dance “Oboli-Bara-Baba!” meant to depict good harvests that both pupils and students at the school had that day. Other events included Maasai dances which went together with young “rap” artists swearing away the popular Mr. Ebbo’s hit: “Mi-Maasai Bana!” The ceremony also included Bhangra dances from India Fashion shows for local attires, songs, poems and recitals. Apart from trophies, the best sports pupils and students also got special certificates in recognition of their outstanding performance. |
