Arrogant parking fee collectors making life difficult in ArushaDear Sir, I am a foreigner , working in Arusha and staying in the town center. I want to write about the arrogant Parking Fees Collectors, who harass people and make a big show from a small thing. Obviously they do son to enjoy and laugh out after the harassed car‑owner has left the scene. They have not been taught at all how to approach patrons politely. Rather they prefer to be rude and demanding. These ruthless fee‑collectors pounce on foreigners and enjoy putting them in discomfort by shouting out in Kiswahili. As soon as they start shouting, the whole area is filled by mobs of people craving a free show. When a crowd has gathered the fee‑collector gathers more courage to be more rude. He will pull out the tyre‑lock, and start behaving as if a Big‑Crime has taken place. People who are staying on main‑road houses, and where they do not have their own compounds ( I am sure most buildings on the Uhuru Road don't have parking facilities in their premises ) they have no option but to park on the streets. If a person is leaving his home at 8.05am, he becomes liable to pay Sh.200.These fee‑collectors proudly declare that ‘you should be out before we come!’. Even if a person's office timings are 8.30 a. m. he is forced to leave house early otherwise these scene‑creators will make a bad start to their day. Why can't the J R Mining Ltd. Management ask these fee‑collectors to be smart and polite, a gesture that will will earn them more goodwill with the people, rather than arrogant & rude. Why should the people leaving their homes in the morning be charged? road ?
