St. Constantine’s celebrates Year 11 graduation with glee and relish

St. Constantine’s graduation 2002. Honouring guests, teachers and students.

Saturday the 8th of June was a day of celebration for the parents, teachers and students of the Year 11 class at St. Constantine’s International School in Arusha. The class of 2002was first honoured Friday night at a dinner and dance hosted by the school at the Impala hotel. On Saturday, the students were honoured again during a lovely ceremony held in the school hall, followed by a tea on the school grounds. Headmistress, Mrs Janet Mmari was in attendance along with Director of Secondary Studies, Mr. Terry McDonald and Director of Primary Studies, Mrs. Jan Aitken.

Honoured guests included Mrs. M. S. Malai from the Arumeru district education office and Mrs. Dora Msechu, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and parent representative.

Head girl Miriam Mshana and head boy Davinder Aggarwal receiving certificates from the Director of Secondary Studies, Terry McDonald.

Just 24 hours earlier, three students sat their final examinations in Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics. All of the students sat for a minimum of 24 exams, and some had written upwards of 30 exams over a 5-week period. St. Constantine’s offers the broadest of  IGCSE subjects in the Sciences, Arts, Humanities and Business.

The graduating students were recognised for their involvement in school activities with minor and major letter awards. They all received their Year 11, Form 4 Leaving Certificates in addition to other subject and proficiency awards. Head boy, Davinder Aggarwal and Miriam Mshana, head girl, spoke on behalf of the Year 11 students in a very moving and thoughtful speech. They commended their teachers for the support all students had received whilst attending the school.

The headmistress Mrs. Janet Mmari,  thanked  all “parents and guardians for their continued co-operation, support and trust” in the school.

The students are looking forward with anticipation to their Cambridge IGCSE results which will be published in late August.
