Thieves strip tractor of vital parts

On Monday, the 4th of February this year, an unknown person stole vital parts  of a tractor belonging to one Eliafile Godwin of Malula King’ori village in Arumeru district.

Last week, a resident of the same area, who was identified as Elimringi Leonard (41) appeared before the District Magistrate, Phares Mbuge, being charged with the theft.

The Police prosecutor, Ralph Meela stated in court that at about 10.00 am that day, the accused took off vital parts from the tractor, a Ford make with registration numbers MZG 303.

According to Inspector Meela, the accused allegedly stole an alternator valued at Tsh.130,000, a radiator worth Tsh.220,000, injector pump worth Tsh.420,000, a fuel pump worth Tsh.200,000 and various locks valued at Tsh.790,000.

The prosecutor added that, the total value of all stolen parts was Tsh.17.6 Million, all being property of the plaintiff, Eliafile Godwin.

The accused has however denied the charged and is currently out on the bail of Tsh.600,000 with one surety and is appearing again in court on Monday, the 11th of March.
